Chorong Lamp New Type - Led

Reinterpreting the 'chong-sa-chorong', the korean illumination device, in terms of modern thoughts.
This lighting device could be hanged onto fixed metal pole, or held by hand, but most importantly when it was hanged onto a long fixed pole
called 'deung rong deh', it would vividly show the difference between the wall and the illumination itself, building up tensions in the atmosphere.
That tension could be maximized by just hanging on to the supporting pole, and I have brought along the advantageous idea from
the 'chong-sa-chorong' which is being able to move from place to another in various directions.

Idealgraphy Junior is a talent raising program mainly consists of students. Over twenty-five Kunkook University students have gathered and
started to discuss ‘design and society’ to light up future of Korean design and become roots of cultural design development. Under those naïve
and honest beliefs, we are on the progress of many projects at the moment.
It was I who directed Idealgraphy Junior, focusing on arguing extension of ideas of design through to the communication with society and
raising designers’ own ability to analyze and express the age of today.

While we were discussing about the structure, capacity and modeling of a chair, we tried to express our ideas by physical sketching before
shaping an actual chair. These processes will lead us to design innovative chairs which are our destination

Adapting traditional Western culture that exposes volume of female body to express beauty, with the characteristic of Asian culture
that cautiously hides curves of the body; I focused to stimulate curiosity with underlying sexiness.

* Mi-Ryeo means beauty and charm in traditional Korean art.

Joong ho Choi and Idealgraphy was invited to the opening reception party of 1000 ornament, the VIP exhibition, held by Artcompany H and
Kitchenware company Nefs. After browsing displayed pieces on ground floor and basement, we had moment to introduce each artist to others.
A private lecture from a well-known food stylist was held and exquisite buffet was offered to all participants. It was very precious moment to
have communication with other designers throughout different scenes.

Nefs Prosumer Project Designer

Kitchenware company Nefs held ‘Kitchen Design Prosumer Project’. Accomplishing various missions with designers from Nefs and designing
our future-kitchen for five months were the main part of the event. Only five interviewees were able to take part in the event and I was one of
them so I could make progress of this project with Nefs’ designers.

The main idea was ‘emotional design’, which can be translated to studying and analyzing the conditions that satisfying five senses of human
being to lead them feel satisfaction both mentally and physically, and user’s emotional reactions to the artistic modeling were requested as well.

Nuvv 8GB - Final Select

I got involved in USB design of Smart Media Service, which is the new business model from SK Telecom, with Lightbrain, internet business
company. During those two months of this project, the progress had been made from sketches to mock-up, and then two prototypes were
chosen and built as mock-up model. The images which the client hoped to emphasize were luxurious, not too small-sized and unique-shaped
distinctively different from the past. As a result of emphasizing luxurious images by using its own slide structure, NUVV twistdiamond was
selected as a final concept.

Chung Ju Biennale. The international exhibition held in Korea under the flag of ‘Finding encounter’. Many domestic and international artists
took part in throughout its ideas, between past and present or the first world and the third world to find and emphasize harmony, acceptance
and value of genre. Idealgraphy group which I am directing was invited to this enormous international exhibition to display our project.

Since ages ago, when we measure the weight of an object, we have often place something at the opposite side as a standard and compared.
This is called balance scale and it is used to compare weight of objects and measure and judge its value.
It is difficult for normal people to measure the value of light; however, the equipment which can help people use light exists.
The switch which controls electricity, the source of light, and the lamp, the luminescence of light, are standing each side of the balance and
measuring their values.

Confront Lamp

‘Designers’ party’ is famous for its motto, ‘Let the world be aware of Korean designers.’ I took part in this exhibition with ‘Confront Lamp’.
Traditional Korean material and language are the inspiration of this lamp. It is standing type so its main sources are iron and aluminum, and
main idea was focused on expressing its exquisite quality.

Seoul Design Olympic was held at Seoul Olympic Stadium for the second time.
I personally took part in the project called ‘Dreams of designers’ within SDO programs.
This program, which was the form of interview, aimed to discuss and to film designers philosophy and ideas and this video was shown to attendants.
Also, this program held an exhibition of works from those designers and I took part in the program with 'Chorong Lamp'.

This product got its motif from the relationship between male and female. Each symbols of both gender were modeled at the back side of the
product, one is popped-in and the other is popped-out. Splitting those two products and combine to their back side, it will become not only
mobile phone but also entertainment system such as mp3 player or small camera. Using it while it is split offers entertainments based on
frequent interaction, and when it is combined to other user’s mobile phone, it translates information or data.
